“Who is Fyrious Stylez?” is what seems to be the question on people’s minds. Now if you were to add a rapper, a comic book nerd, a video gamer and a gym rat into one big pot, that is how he is created. Fyrious is a Bronx native born as Gary Mayo on September 13,1986 and has been influenced by hip-hop at a young age. “I’ve always loved music as a kid, especially hip-hop.” He said. “It was the beat that always attracted me. I couldn’t understand the lyrics at that time.” And it wasn’t until he was 16 years of age when he wrote his first rap. “I was picked on in high school so I needed to find a way to release my anger and frustration, but I never would have thought that I would pick up a pen and start writing raps.” After graduating high school, he started to perfect his craft and that’s when he had realized his true calling. He wrote rhymes every single day but he had no place to record any of his songs. But one day, it all changed for him at the age of 21. “I recorded my songs when I was in Virginia with my cousin’s family we had so much fun doing it.” He said. “Then I gave my dad my CD and he was shopping it around telling people to check out my music.” But little did he know that his life was about to change and will be collaborating with someone that works in the industry. And that man’s name is Rock Logic, but he is also known as MC Stik-E who had a popular hit in the 90’s called “Shake Whatcha Mama Gave Ya” and is a producer for so many artists and received a plaque for his work. “We hit it off the first time we met. It was kind of a bromance of sorts.” He chuckled. The two began on working on Fyrious’ first mixtape. During that time, Rock was making a remixed version of Chris Brown’s song “Forever” and wanted Fyrious to be a part of it. “I was really excited to be a part of his work.” So in part of being on the remix, he gave Fyrious something that he will never forget, a vinyl record of the song. “I was so happy to receive something like that. I still have it in my closet and I never even took it out of the box.” They managed to finish the project but unfortunately, the union was short-lived. “He travels a lot so at times it was difficult for me to get him in the studio.” And now let’s fast forward to the present. With 6 mixtapes,1 album and a new attitude, he’s more dedicated than before and never lost his stride even when things seem like they’re out of reach for him. Now if people want to know who Fyrious Stylez is and what he is about, then he will be more than happy to show them all who he is and what he’s truly capable of.
